Just got confirmation from band archivist Peter Ammerall. Upload away! see policy page for specifics on what is and what is not allowed.

This is a big one for the LMA from what I hear. Exciting!

Phil Lesh's own website has links to several sites with SBD shns (including gdlive). See http://www.thephilzone.com/philzonepages/friends_stuff/download.html

Yeah, but some of us greedy little pigs love the hard to find 99 & 00 shows as well as that super 2003 tour.

BTW, Tyler & co. great job!! Many thanks for all of the great shows posted. GD & Ratdog should keep me busy for a while = ) peace

Yep. And I have plenty of Phil to upload. Would LOVE to upload it here rather than start a BT from my tiny cable connection.

Me too, funny I was just thinking the same thing, I have some good Phil (and would also like to hear some more good Phil Lesh Quintet!) that I would love to upload to the archive. I am kind of surprised that he is not up there already. Anyone know why?

I've got no dime, but I've got some time... and some Phil stuff from that era that's not uploaded, as well as some unmentionables, if you're looking for anything specific, and/or you're willing to upload something (like get a show, and then upload it to archive.org - I'm using every crumb of my bandwidth uploading now)
there's a tiny yahoogroup called
easytoremember
, join it and hook up with us. (there's only 3 of us at the time of this post, and 2 of them are me, but the intent is superactive trading of stuff you can't find or can't find YET on archive.org. with the intent of getting more content up on all the ftp sites. only rule is no jerks and no money

has a consensus ever been reached for filenames for phil, and related bands? I've seen
p&f2004-02-30.shn ( I won't use ampersands in filenames ever)
paf2004-02-30.shn
phil2004-02-30.shn

I'd like to conform my filenames before spreading the butter.

what's your personal preference? I kinda like just 'phil'... btw is he performing as Phil Lesh Quartet or is that just slang? Haven't seen phil in a while. if so then I think plq might be good but it kinda looks like 'pig'

I don't know what PLQ is. but if it is a band you like, do some legwork and go to the band's page, write to the webmaster / manager / etc and ask if archive.org inclusion is cool with them. then forward that to etree @ archive DOT org. cool?

PLQ=Phil Lesh Quintet aka Phil Lesh & Friends.

I just found this site 3 weeks ago and have not seen anything on the forum so maybe there was discussion before I got going. If so I apologize in advance for any duplications.

By the way Tyler, good work.

"PLQ=Phil Lesh Quintet aka Phil Lesh & Friends. "

okay, cool. I assume he was also part of the grateful dead? I appologize, i'm not familiar with the dead, rat dog, any of that but i know they are quite popular. And i do know my history... I can imagine what a thrill it must be to discover this site when all you've had for the past 25 years is an old Maxell II cassette that you traded a fellow dead-head for in the parking lot of a show all those years ago, and which you've probably worn down to near break-point. This is truely a great resource for all, but espeically for fans like you that are just finding this treasure trove of archived history. So enjoy! there is so much here, by so many bands. browse around and share for free the music!

"I just found this site 3 weeks ago and have not seen anything on the forum so maybe there was discussion before I got going. If so I apologize in advance for any duplications."

Hey, no worries! With the dead's precedent setting taping policy all those years ago, i'm sure all the side projects would all love to be included on the archive. all we need is specific 'ok' from their archivist, manager, webmaster, something like that, someone that has the 'say so' to say: "Archive.org is okay with us" and they probably would have no problem doing so since they are so taper friendly, the only hurdle is getting contact and getting them to say so.

the entry for that band:

http://www.archive.org/audio/etree-band-details.php?band=Phil%20Lesh%20and%20Friends

nothing really has been tried since 09/15/02 ! so this band is LONG over-due for a re-try. Especially with ratdog sayign 'yes', thigns look bright! i will talk to the ratdog archivist and see if he knows the contact info for the other archivists for the other side-projects so hopefully we can get this rolling! if you have any contact info for them, send it to us admins at:

etree@archive.org

Thanks and enjoy the live music archive.
